The research interests of our working group are primarily focused on congenital cardiomyopathies and ion channel diseases. Our aim is not only to decipher the molecular causes of these diseases, but also to apply the knowledge gained directly to the care of affected patients. The prevention of sudden cardiac death (already intrauterine and from childhood to adulthood) is the main focus here. There is close cooperation with adult and pediatric cardiology in the field of basic and clinical research. As part of the "Munich Consortium for Rare Heart Disease", we are a member of the European Reference Network (ERN) GUARD-Heart and support international studies and patient registries for rare heart diseases as part of this network.
